Music Coach - Saxophone
Sydney is Head Drum Major and Band Council Vice President in the Dickinson H.S. Marching Band. Last year; as a junior Sydney served as, assistant drum major and band council treasurer. Since sophomore year Sydney has also been the wind ensemble first chair tenor saxophone player. Sydney made district band for tenor saxophone as a junior and senior and Sydney has received multiple 1's (superior rating) on her solos. Outside of band Sydney is a chairman of national honor society and a member of science honor society and student council. Sydney has also been a member of 4-H for 9 years and Sydney has served as historian, parliamentarian, 3rd, 2nd and 1st vice president.
Why I am Here
I have been in band since 6th grade and I have been given many of the greatest gifts through it. Not only have I learned one of the most passionate forms of expression but I have also gained some of my best friends, and learned some of the most important life skills I will ever need. The fact that music is limited to people who can afford an instrument, as well as its upkeep and lessons breaks my heart that not everyone can have the opportunity to explore this language and skill. I was blessed with the resources to be able to explore the world of music, and I have been given so much from it that I would do anything I could to make music more accessible. I want to give everyone the opportunity of gaining lifelong friends, skills and experiences through
band.
